Tires

my scorpion trails are at the end of their lives so i was out hunting for a new set. found these babies at one of the local shops. it's what the stock ducati scrambler comes with. yes, they have a size for the hyperstrada front tire. i think they're perfect for dual sports

I liked them. Worked well in the dirt, and pretty good on the road.

Not the most stable feel when leaned over... but very nimble feeling. I want a 2nd set of rims with them for ADV rides.

I just replaced them with a set of the new Scorpion Trail II.

My bad I was thinking K60 Scout...the Scorpion Corsas would be my next tire.

How are you finding the Trail 2s?

So how are those MT60's doing? Cheers.

Just to add my info to the mix

Original scorpions lasted 8800 miles, changed front & rear to

Michelin Pilot Road 4's: 9500miles (rear needs changed soon but not front) Probably end up with 10,000mi on rear. Highly recommended over stock!

*95% road 5% gravel/dirt

Picking up my "new" HS tomorrow - with a fresh pair of PIRELLI Angel GT's.

I ride these since release a few years ago (with Biaggi on a flightdeck).

Good durability and confidence in the wet

Hi all,

Second set of Metzeller Sportec M7RR, yesterday, after 6000 km!
Those tires are fantastics, dry, wet, wide curves, mountain road, gravel. Always on top!
Just need to dismount center stand...
Perfect for fast cornering supermot riding or very fast curve knee down.
Full throttle all along curves is very addictive!
The limit of those tires are very far and when you're playing too much they are very preventing.
The road could be messy, it doesn't matter, grip is always here.
The mileage is short but it worth it.

Nobody tried them?

Used Michelin PR4 since 2014.
This time I put on the new Metzeler Roadtec 01.

After 300 miles I am more then pleased. A nice bike got even nicer.
Very good stability and confidence. So far the best tires I have had on this bike.
I ride mainly on asfalt, dry and wet.

Michelin Pilot Road 4.
Handling (how well it turns in and holds a line): 4
Stability high speed: 3.5
Stability corners: 4
Dry Grip: 4
Wet Grip: 5
Braking: 4

Metzeler Roadtec 01
Handling: 5
Stability: 5
Dry Grip: 5
Wet Grip: don't know yet, but according to test as good as Michelin
Braking: 5

Burned up a rear T30r to the cords in 6000 miles. Was quite disappointed in the rear. The front, however, is fantastic. No cupping to speak of yet, and the tire looks barely worn! It even looks I'll be able to get two more rears out of it before getting to the wear bars.

I got two rear Bt-023's for $220 total, so that's what I'm replacing it with this weekend. 3D printed a few balancing cones for the rear rim to put on my normal balance stand.

Metz road tec looks very promising. Considering it has the highest score compared with the PR4. This would surely be my next brand and model in line. Just pity that 4 wheel online isn't carrying this brand. (I have good discount with them).

I'd like to get a pair of those Pirelli MT60's, but they don't seem like they'd hold up to my kind of mileage.

Here's a photo of the new BT-023 sitting on my balancing stand. For those curious, the 3D printed cones were a huge success. Less than $1 of plastic is better than spending $70+ on someone else's product. Granted, they aren't perfectly true, but for balancing it won't matter a bit. There seems to be a 2-3mm run-out at the edge of the rim.

Got about 6k miles out of the OEM before the rear started coming apart (about 500 miles too many).

Replaced them with a set of Metzeler Roadtec 01s and am loving them so far. Almost exclusive freeway commute at this point, but the ride is much improved.

I'm excited to hear what kind of mileage you get out of the Roadtecs, these are what I was looking at for my next set of tires. Keep us posted!

I got about 4k out of the rear on my Hypermotard (Pirelli Diablo Rosso II) before I wore it to the casing while slabbing back at the end of a 400 mile day. Great tires, but I'm trending towards distance and I can't really justify a new set every 3 - 4k so I'm planning to replace both front and read with the Pirelli Angel GT.

I got 4500 miles out of my Roadtec 01's but could have got 6k easy, I just changed them cos they were getting miss-shaped and it felt **** in bends. I didn't really like them, too hard and wet grip wasn't great, gone back to PR4's

In short, as most people agreeing the Michelin Pilot 3 or 4 is the better tyre for an all round everything?

I have had 3 punctures on my Pirelli Scorpions! And am wanting something that is going to last slightly more miles. Front one is original at 5,500 and needing to change both now.

My Michelin Pilot Road 4's have almost no detectable wear after 7000 km usage. I wouldn't however recommend them if you're planning to do any track days (I've seen what a track will do to them on a sport bike), but for normal street usage they're great.

Can confirm the Angel GT from Pirelli is pretty solid. I surprisingly managed to get about 4k out of the Diablo 3s that were on the bike before the cords started showing (I guess sustained 90+ MPH in headwinds is bad). Same sort of riding on the GTs and it took nearly 1k before the lightly embossed GT logo on the rear tire center tread disappeared.

I ran the Angel GT on my VStrom and really dislike it. It grips fine, but the lack of feel is really upsetting. It just feels dead for some reason. I'm replacing them with a set of Bridgestone T30 EVO. I ran the T30's before and really loved them. Maybe if the EVO's are good I will run them on the Hyper. Until then, still digging the M7RR.

The PR4 has been around for a little while now, but hardly old news. I still think it's the best rain tire on the market. The number of sipes combined with soft compound make it pretty amazing. The only downside is the rounder profile makes them a little slow to turn-in, and they can feel a little squishy in certain conditions, lacking cornering stability.
