Ducati Performance GPS Installation on Hyperstrada

Thank you very much. I spend pretty much all my time on a computer and would consider myself savvy. It was something I just couldn't readily find.:D

Great site!

Your welcome, only took a minute, your right, its a great site, one of the friendliest and helpful ones i use.:)

Has anybody tried that snooper device?

I had a look at the latest offerings with switchable on off from the handlebars and visor mount warning plus front and rear laser blockers, but after reading some of the stories of people being prosecuted for using them, I've not pursued it any further. Just waiting to see if the cops got me last Sunday round wales, got a bad feeling that i was busted.

Thats a bummer, lets hope they didn't. I believe blockers would be illegal as they would "perverting the course of justice" Alot like flip up plates.

These snoopers are legal though in the UK. I am not sure how effective these things are though. I would imagine that the front of the device would have to have a clear view of the front area and your eye sight from its rear. Any videos of usage?

I would be keen to get one. I was coming back from work and went over Blackfriairs bridge left to the down the slip road that joins the embankment. I believe this is 30mph. There was a police car at the bottom of the hill with a scooter already pulled over. I wasn't going majorly fast (still over though) but would have been pulled over and ticketed from this impromptu laser camera spot. Lucky for me the cops were dealing with this scooter rider and didn't have chance to get the laser aimed up the slip road until I passed them.

Is the Laser Pod legal to use?

Yes, the Snooper Laser Pod is completely legal to use in the UK, though *in some European countries it is illegal to use laser detection. We suggest if you plan to use the Laser Pod outside the UK, that you find out whether it is legal to use in your country.

Thing is with a snooper, is that all it will do is tell you that you've just been busted, because the police will have already caught you speeding by the time you get alerted and slow down, The only upside is if they warn you of the static normal road cameras.

If a laser warning goes off, it's too late. The pulse rate of a laser is faster than a human could ever react. Same thing with radar, though slower than laser. This is why I think detectors are worthless.

Yep you just confirmed what i just said, all it does is let you know you been busted.

In the US, traffic cops also have kill switches, normally used when they have a trap set. Kinda like a "dead-man's switch", they keep it depressed until they have speeder dead to rights and release - *beep*, you're toast.

Now, I have been quite interested in defeating the camera's, cause that's just cheating.

Thanks for a great post and the pic. How is the 3BR USB port fixed to the handlebars? Did you connect it directly to the battery or somewhere where the power is disconnected when the ignition is off to avoid battery drain?

I have tried an failed on this one. I have an SP and followed these instruction. For about 2 hours I was trying different mounting places for the Garmin "black box" and wires. I really could not find a place to fit these things. Where did you put them as there really is no room at all back there to add anything else!!!!

I actually gave up and have just mounted the Garmin (non powered) mount of the bike and left it like that. Everything was all neatly wired up and working too.

Yes both the Garmin and the USB port are connected directly to the barttery.

The USB port comes with a mount that has adhesive on the back and with zip ties is pretty secure.

I will not likely ever leave anyting on the bike plugged in unattended for any peirod of time.

Has anybody else fitted an aftermarket Garmin GPS? Where did you put the Garmin black box?

The mount has a power cord that comes off of it with power and ground wiring the power has a 2 amp inline fuse but thats it.

Damn!! I need this kit. Do you have a link for the purchase of this?

We are talking about mounting a Garmin 350LM. What you have shown is a 660 mount.
