Hi new to the forum, have recently purchased a 2014 hypermotard and looking to do the coil swap, has anyone used the 848/1198 coils as mentioned a few pages ago? As would rather go this route than doing wiring if they work, thanks.
Sorry to hear your ECU trouble.
On your 4th picture that shows the 2 coils together.
Maybe it is a trick of the photograph, but the 2 coils look very different lengths.
Is that so?
I read the Eldor coil is a tighter fit.
Greetings from UK.

Is it not just easier buying the 38010144B coils? Anyone tried these
Hi all,
New to the forum but have read this thread and need to swap coils after my findings. Have had a new dash and ecu installed by dealer at my expense, and want to keep riding this hyper; it’s a blast. Looking for clarification, the Eldor coils are plug and play, and the Aprilia coils require some cutting and soldering to be compatible?
Thanks in advance!
Jeff
Replying to my own post just to let people know that I picked up a set of eldor coils from an 848 ducati, same plugs as original hyper ones, fitted and working no problems.
Hey, I just read this topic so fast that I do not realize that you are here.
I just watched your video couple minutes ago...
And subscribe and put some more videos on the list to watch later.
You and I had the same dream: Hypers!!!
And the DRZ400!! I had one, but have to sell it. I will buy another soon

Given your battery is actually healthy and can deliver the amps rather than just registering 12v, it could be you have the next Hyper problem; the useless starter motor. The original starter motor can go bad, use up massive current and still not spin the engine fast enough. The answer is a newer Denso motor, preferably a used one from a later Ducati. This issue has been dealt with extensively here, so you should be able to search for it. Removing and fitting a starter motor is a significant job as you need to get inside the engine case to get at the bolts. Good luck!
