You guys make sure you add some lock tight on the screws. I've lost an exhaust pipe heat shield this way.

when i got the bike with 1000mi on it I had to tighten EVERYTHING. Even the tire hugger/fender in back was loose. I just recently had to replace all the heat shield washers because those screws had backed WAY out.

I now have something that almost sounds like a bell. No idea what it is yet.

Vibe/noise 4000 rpm

I had a vibration/rattle noise at around 4000 rpm, spent months tightning and checking things, no good.
Decided to check the timing belt tension, they were loose, adjusted the tension and all fixed.
I have 12000 kms on my bike, it had been diong it for a few thousand prior, and was getting worse.

Wow, thats kinda scary. What method did you use to tension them?

Just went through stuff because I had a rattle at certain rpm. Tightened fairings, heat shield, and radiator plastic things. all a bit loose. Rattle gone. Think I'm going to check my front axle bolts because...

update - I thought the rattle was gone but it's not. It's as others describe, up front and around 4k on accel and decel. It's going in for it's timing belt change/valve adjust - hope that's all it is. Otherwise the bike is running fine.

As it turns out, the vibration came back. It was the exhaust heat shield vibrating, only when hot.....screws were tight. Fitted a washer under the screws and all good.
Belts needed tightening anyway!

Recently performed a valves adjustment. Afterward the bike started making the high pitch rattle noise between 3900 and 4100 rpm . Was really worry that is messed something up internally. Lucky I found this thread and started messing the the heat shield. Since I can"t easily get thick washer pn 85212751A that goes between the shield and exhaust. I decided to remove the screws and washers on the horizontal pipe. The noise was gone afterward. Will have to think of something until I can order some new washer.

I added a layer about 1mm thick of high temp silicone sealant to those washers. Let it cured and put it back on with the silicone facing the heat shield. The rattling is gone for now. Waiting for some new washers to arrive.
